Amyris essential oil documented health properties include lymphatic, sedative, expectorant, decongestant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, balsamic, fixative, hypotensive, antiphlogistic, aphrodisiac.*

An evergreen tree native to Central America and the West Indies and Central America, Amyris is also known as West Indian sandalwood. It is a common fixative in the manufacturing of perfumes.

Unlike many essential oils, amyris comes from steam distilling of the bark that falls off of the tree, rather than the flowers or leaves. The bark is extremely high in natural oil content, and can be readily processed into a healthy and beneficial essential oil. It is sometimes used in place of sandalwood because, although different in aroma and strength, it gives similar therapeutic results of relaxation and ease of nerves and tension.
