  • Skin Irritation – As with several essential oils, amyris essential oil could cause skin irritation, especially those with sensitive skin.  Test a patch of skin by applying a small amount and wait 2-3 hours for any type of reaction before using it more liberally.

  • Ingestion – There is no advantage to consume this essential oil. It has been known to cause severe stomach upset, nausea and vomiting. By diffusing amyris essential oil you can benefit internally from its use.

  • Chronic Disease – Experts do not recommend amyris essential oil if you have cancer, epilepsy or a number of other serious medical conditions, or a terminal illness. If you have any pre-existing conditions or prescriptions discuss with your physician which of these might complicate your use amyris.

  • Pregnancy – If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it’s best not to use amyris topically.  However, aromatherapy or diffuser applications can be considered safe. Prior using this oil in any form, it is wise to consult your doctor about your particular condition.
